Kalhatty water falls is a hidden landscape near ooty. It's an excellent experience to us. It's almost 2km running from masinagudi - ooty main road. It's not children friendly area.
A beautiful place within the forest cover to explore. Dint have much water in there, but was a quite and calm place, if u wanna feel and enjoy the beauty of nature, it's the best place for u in that area. You need to explore a bit around that area, very nice place if u like photography. There are two ways to the waterfalls once u reach it's view point, on goes straight down hill which is just a small path, you have to trek through it, it's bit risky though for who are not used to trekking. On your left from the view point in between the dense hedges u have stairs that take u down.
An amazing place... A kind of trek place.... Nothing much to see there. Just a water falls. But the journey till there is superb. Can't go by two-wheeler or four wheeler. Best way to enjoy the falls is to go by walk. Falls is situated inside a forest (not a thick forest). Safety measures should be taken. A lonely place. So couples going there should be careful. The falls is seems to be very deep so don't try to get into water. Streams nearby is good to enjoy.
Suggested for friends seeking cool hide out trek !
Go for the top !!
Suited for Amateurs Trekkers also.
Crowd:
•It's usually very less, less than 20 on the same instance of time.
The location:
•It's a beautiful secluded place. The view from the top is very good;with the waters flowing beneath you and the skies in front of you(if you reach the top).
Animals and Birds:
1.Nilgiri langur,
2.Lion tailed macaque are the two most endangered species of monkeys on India. This macaque is the rarest in the world. If you are silent enough, you might be lucky enough to see them.
3.King fishers, wood peckkers, etc.
Risk level:
•The trek to the top is not suggested during the peak rainy season.
•And DoNot step on water laden or water flowing rock area as it would be very slippery. And this applies to all water falls you go.
•Do not try to get into or jump into any puddle of water on the Rock, unless you know the depth of it.
Advice for Trekkers:
•Plz carry back your trash with you.
•Plz do not poop along the walk path leading to the falls, do it somewhere hidden
•Do not scribble or leave any kindafootprint there.
Awesome falls, number of visitors are low it's an advantage to enjoy at your own way. Water also pure as drinkable. 6am to 11 am is best timing for photography. Evening time partly perfect. I hope this falls gives u best experience n enjoyment. 🤗🤗😊 …
Very dry in summer. Absolutely no water. But the place is so serene and secluded. Good for solo travelers. It's a hidden treasure in a popular and crowded tourist like Ooty.
This place is heaven for bird photography. The view is just awesome! I couldn't spot the falls. Couldn't find the way also. Just the view, not maintained at all. It's not the way from masinagudi, sometimes the fog just engulfs the road with 0 visibility, and you don't have a view.
A must visit serene place. Perfect weekend getaway from cities. Also, since people around are very less, it's a great picnic spot. I would recommend the best time to visit would be in monsoon or right after it because it's a very small waterfall hence water quantity might be lower in the other seasons
